Musical Director: Ken Farran



Ken began to play the Piano Accordion at the age of 5. At present, Ken is a Vice President of The National Accordion Organisation, and sits on the Governing Council and the Teachers Advisory Council of The British College of Accordionists. In 2000 he was given an Award of Merit from the NAO for his services to the accordion. In 2012 Ken travelled to Italy for the 65th Coupe Mondiale International Competition for Accordionists where he received the prestigious ‘Honored Friend of the Accordion’ award presented in appreciation for Ken’s outstanding contributions to the accordion movement and 62 years service to the NAO. Ken has played on radio and television and continues to adjudicate for the NAO. Kens compositions are for sale at Charnwood Music. Ken established the Weaver Valley Accordion Band in 1982 as a platform for his pupils to perform and to showcase the accordion. He continues to inspire his band members and pupils, raising the profile of our beloved instrument.
